This is the second year Jim has been asked by Eastern European associations to address the topic to members of the local engineering, contracting and employer communities.

Geoffrey Smith will be presenting a seminar in Jakarta in October. The seminar will be attended by government officials, consultants, contractors and academics and will address the benefit to projects of using standing Dispute Adjudication Boards.

Jim Perry will be speaking at the American College of Construction Lawyers (ACCL) in California on the subject “DAB’s and Arbitration : Are they Complimentary, Contradictory or Duplicative Methods of Dispute Resolution in the International Context.” Jim will be promoting the hypothesis that Dispute Boards are more than complimentary, and provide the only dispute avoidance procedure available during real time construction. With the growing availability of enforcement paths, DAB’s should promote the reduction of arbitration and litigation.”
